Prayer to St. Benedict the Moor

O wonderful lover of God, Saint Benedict, humble follower of Saint Francis and heavenly friend of the colored race, hear our prayer and obtain from God the favors we ask.

Implore Him, we beseech you, to grant us forgiveness of the many sins by which we have offended Him; to deepen our faith in His Son Jesus Christ, and in the teachings of His Church; to strengthen out hope in His fatherly care and protection; and to increase our love for Him and for all His Children.

O blessed saint, extend your protection to our bodies also, and beg God to deliver us from want, misfortune, and sickness.

But if these troubles must come to us, implore Him to give us the grace to bear our crosses patiently and without complaint, in imitation of you and in union with our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
